ON THE EDGE This series unveils the stories of the world’s
most threatened and mysterious animals. Most of which we’ve never even
seen before! Each one-hour episode provides a dual perspective. Through
the animal’s eyes we learn of its struggle to survive and the man-made
threats it encounters. Through unexpected human partnerships, born of
the need to save these animals from extinction, we see the concern,
witness the fight against the odds, but also realize there is real,
tangible hope for these animals—if they can win our hearts, passion and
support.
Because of the rarity and protected nature of the
animals we feature, each story delivers first time ever footage and,
ideally, new discoveries.
Urban Whale One
of the most critically endangered and little known animals on earth
lives within clear view of the coast of North America, These enormous
animals are urban dwellers, living in the shadow of our cities, yet we
know almost nothing about them. Our story follows a mother right whale
and her new calf on its urban journey from the calving grounds off
Florida and Georgia, to its summer home in the Bay of Fundy. Along the
way we'll show the many man-made perils the whales encounter through
the animals' eyes and through a network of people who line 1500 miles
of coastline to help see these whales safely home. The story of this
"urban" marine mammal provides a dramatic illustration of the land/sea
connection. (Available as :60 One Off or Series Episode)
